8 TIPS to Manage the Holiday Season GOOD ENOUGH!

The Holiday Season is a charged time of the year! Expectations and traditions, travel and deep cleaning, joy and grief, loving families and family conflict, too much socialization and loneliness, the list goes on and on… Whatever you find yourself with this Holiday Season here are:

8 TIPS to Manage the Holiday Season GOOD ENOUGH

  1. Prioritize sleep: For adults make sure you’re getting 7-9 hours of sleep a night.

  2. Exercise: Keep your body moving to manage stress, increase energy levels, and improve sleep.

  3. Hydrate & Eat A Balanced Diet: Avoid overconsumption of sweets, processed foods, and alcohol. If you overindulge, give yourself a pass.

  4. Practice Stillness: Set aside quiet time for yourself, to journal, reflect, be present to what is happening in your body and mind, meditate.

  5. Identify & Validate Your Feelings: This alone can help regulate your nervous system. Whatever you are with, it will pass.

  6. Set a Budget: It can be an expensive time of the year. Stick to a manageable budget.

  7. Honor Limits: Prioritize what you are able to do and attend. It is okay to say no or turndown invitations.

  8. Reach for Support: Connect with others. Do meaningful things. Contact your medical doctor or therapist if things get unmanageable.
