What is soul? BIG question, huh?! A simple definition resonates for me: soul is a drop of spirit. And spirit being God, life force energy, source, or however you name it. That omnipresent, omnificent energy of the universe. I believe we all come from it and we all return to this same source energy when we die. Our soul is the holy part of us, the innate mystery, what gives us life.

What’s fun and complicated is that we all need to define for ourselves what soul and spirit mean, and decide if these terms are important to us? Talking about soul and spirit touches on some of the great existential questions of life! A wonderful place to explore and investigate what soul and spirit mean to you is through your body with movement, on a dance floor!

Open Floor is an embodiment practice, it has a comprehensive curriculum, and teaches several ways to connect with soul on the dance floor:

  • Pleasure

  • Nature

  • Ritual/Ceremony

  • Deep Listening

  • Polarities

  • Trance

  • Flow State

  • Transcendent Emotions

  • Creativity/Art

  • Impro

  • Humor

Attend an upcoming Open Floor SOUL MOVES class, we’ll be using some of these doorways to connect with the soul. Not a dancer? Perfect! Neither was I a few years ago! A dancer? Great, there is space for you on the floor as well!

Open Floor is a resource-based, mindful movement practice meant to cultivate awareness, intention, and build community. What we practice on the dance floor, helps us as we move through life off the dance floor.
