Serving MEDICARE BENEFICIARIES via Private Pay Contract!
When I started Coriander Living Collective, LLC my professional counselor licensure type was not honored by Medicare; I was able to see clients on Medicare via private pay. With the passing of The Mental Health Access Improvement Act of 2023, mental health counselors and marriage and family therapists were approved as Medicare Part B providers effective for January 1, 2024.
An unforeseen impact of this law was that for those providers NOT wanting to get credentialed with Medicare they were then unable to see Medicare Beneficiaries without going through an opt-out process.
I have filed a Medicare Opt Out Affidavit allowing me to once again see Medicare Beneficiaries via Private Pay Contract. This affidavit is valid for 2 years and automatically renews. We believe in your right to choose your care and course of treatment. We are honored to again be able to start serving Medicare Beneficiaries via private pay contracts!
If you are a Medicare Beneficiary and wish to pursue services on a private pay contract you will need to sign a Medicare Private Pay Contract outlining specific terms such as you agree to NOT seek reimbursement from Medicare.
As with so many things with our government, they are unnecessarily complicated! If you have questions, please reach out to Cori for clarification.
Please note: Cori Hildebrandt, MA, LPC WI, LPCC MN and Coriander Living Collective LLC are not credentialed with Medicare and do NOT bill to insurance.
