Brainspotting - Process Your Trauma Without Talking About It
What is Brainspotting? Brainspotting is a somatic (body-based) psychotherapy that uses our visual field to locate "spots" where we hold trauma, emotional distress, or physical activation. Because our eyes are deeply connected to the midbrain, this process allows us to bypass the analytical, talking brain and access the deeper areas where traumatic memories are actually stored.
During a session, focusing on a specific brainspot can be an intense experience as the brain and body process the memory. However, clients generally experience a profound sense of relief and release afterward—essentially "clearing" the trauma from the nervous system. And progress can be made after even a single session.
